I use xp embedded sp2 plus xp embedded feature 2007, which including a directx 9.0c component. I have to say, in a windows xp platform (not embedded), the program runs just fine., so I don’t think my application program has any problem for that… why on the xpe, it can not run? After a repair install >using the slipstreamed cd< all is as it should be again. I thank you very kindly. Now that I have a completely fresh and functional OS, I'm afraid to use it .... I went to the "windows xp from a to z" site downloaded the repair for a corrupt msconfig file. It ran and it couldn't make it run.

I think this .ex_ designation means that it has to be run by the install program or some such. It needs to be expanded as it is a compressed file on the cd.
